CHEO and OCTC Joining Forces to Create a New Organization
Amalgamation of Two Leaders to Improve Health Services for Children and Families
The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and the Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre (OCTC) – the two leading providers of specialized pediatric health services in the region – are joining forces to create a new organization.
I wanted to be sure you knew that the donations you have made to the OCTC will continue to be used exclusively to support OCTC programs and services – as will any future donations. We all believe very strongly in the very important and unique work that OCTC does with the children and youth with physical and developmental disabilities.
We are pleased to confirm that we will be holding the 20th “For the Kids” Charitable Auction on Thursday, April 20, 2017! This signature event is the main source of philanthropic revenue for the OCTC Foundation. It is also an opportunity to hear about the challenges and triumphs of the children and youth who live with physical and developmental disabilities and to experience the power of community to support and enrich the lives of these children in a very meaningful way.
The OCTC Foundation and the CHEO Foundation have always enjoyed a strong working relationship, which can only be enhanced as result of today’s announcement. I will be working with the leader of the CHEO Foundation and with our Boards of Directors during the transition period to determine what makes sense organizationally and what would be of greatest benefit to the children, youth, and families we support.
The OCTC Foundation continues to count on its network of support to pursue its mandate of “creating opportunities today, maximizing independence tomorrow”.
